Constructed in 1950 in Bremen by the renowned designer Henry Gruber, the Yawl Marconi Gilla is a distinguished example of classic yacht architecture. Measuring 15.45 meters in length with a beam of 3.45 meters, this vessel features a traditional hull built from teak and mahogany. Her history includes significant Atlantic crossings throughout the 1970s and successful appearances at the Antigua Classic Week. Following her acquisition in 2000, she was transported to Italy and underwent a comprehensive restoration at the shipyards in Fano in 2003.
Equipped with a 2014 Volvo Penta 55 Hp engine, Gilla remains active in the classic sailing circuit, recently participating in the Vele Storiche Viareggio and Argentario Sailing Week in 2024. Her rig has been maintained with high attention to detail, including the full restoration of her masts and booms in April 2024, alongside a complete inspection of the standing rigging and stays. The sail inventory is extensive, featuring a main with slides and double reefs, a mizzen, a reefing jib, a large Genoa with piston hanks, a Gennaker with snuffer, and five additional sails.
Designed for performance and heritage, the deck layout includes two Barient self-tailing winches in the cockpit, a compass, and a traditional wheel steering system. Practical amenities for upkeep and comfort include both summer covers and a comprehensive three-piece winter cover, alongside a mahogany ladder and gangway. With VAT paid and a displacement of 19,000 kg, she offers stability and classic lines for those seeking a vessel with proven sailing capabilities.
