About

Designed by the renowned German naval architect Henry Gruber and built in 1950, Gilla represents a significant piece of maritime history. This 15.45-meter classic yacht features a traditional wooden construction, characterized by a teak hull and mahogany planking. With a draft of 2.45 meters and a beam of 3.45 meters, she maintains the graceful lines and performance characteristics typical of her era. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, this vessel successfully completed multiple Atlantic crossings and spent two decades based in Newport, Rhode Island, where she competed in the Antigua Classic Week. Since being acquired by her current owner in 2000, she was relocated to Italy. In 2003, she underwent a comprehensive refit and restoration at the Fano shipyards. Most recently, she participated in the 2024 Vele Storiche Viareggio and Argentario Sailing Week events. This used boat continues to demonstrate excellent upwind sailing capabilities, frequently appearing at AIVE gatherings across the Adriatic. Her maintenance remains meticulous, with her masts and booms receiving a full restoration in April 2024. The vessel is VAT paid and offers a unique opportunity for enthusiasts of vintage wooden craft. Following her participation in the 2024 season, this yacht will be stationed at Marina dei Cesari in Fano.
