In brief

The Sealine S 34 is an approximately 10.5-metre sports cruiser with two cabins, suited to families or couples planning multi-day coastal cruising. Its appeal is accommodation efficiency; its main caveat is the complexity of twin legacy Volvo Penta KAD diesels, sterndrives and ageing domestic systems, all of which require an independent survey beyond declared engine hours.

The Sealine S 34 is an early-2000s British sports cruiser built around a social cockpit and genuinely separated accommodation. This is neither a sea trial nor a judgement on either advertised boat: it combines official engine information, period model evidence and structured Batoo listing observations, while keeping unresolved details visible.

Design, specifications and dimensional evidence

The underlying proposition is space efficiency rather than a stripped-back deck plan. Both Batoo records describe a fibreglass hull, two cabins and one heads compartment. A convertible saloon may create further sleeping space on some boats, but berth certification and the precise interior arrangement must be checked against the individual craft's documentation.

Observed dimensions are close, not identical. One Batoo offer records 10.46 m length, 3.30 m beam and 0.90 m draught; the other gives 10.50, 3.35 and 0.91 m. A separate 2000 example documented by De Valk reports 1.10 m draught. Measurement conventions, drive position and production detail may explain this, but the conflict is unresolved and should never be averaged for a berth contract or transport plan.

An archived original Sealine 2003 catalogue lists the S34 among that year's range, providing useful period and version evidence. The accessible catalogue page does not reveal the internal specification sheet, so this guide does not turn it into unsupported displacement, tankage or performance figures.

Engine variants and specification boundaries

The two Batoo boats carry materially different declared packages. The 2002 record has twin Volvo Penta KAD43 engines at a listing-stated 231 hp each and 300 hours. The 2003 record states twin KAD44 DP-E units at 260 hp each and 695 hours. Hours are seller-side observations until corroborated by service invoices, counters, electronic records where available and physical condition.

Volvo Penta's own 2002 material defines the KAD43 as a 3.6-litre, six-cylinder engine producing 230 hp/169 kW. It defines the KAD44 EDC as 3.6 litres, six cylinders and 260 hp/191 kW with electronic diesel control. Both were supplied with Duoprop drives; Volvo describes the KAD architecture as combining turbocharging, a mechanical compressor and charge-air cooling.

The 230-versus-231 hp KAD43 discrepancy is attribution, not an invitation to calculate 230.5 hp. More importantly, the KAD44's electronic control adds harnesses, control heads, sensors and diagnostic considerations, while the KAD43 retains mechanical control but still has a supercharger, turbo, cooling circuit and sterndrives. Full engine codes, serial numbers, drive ratios and propellers should be recorded before parts are specified.

Reasoned strengths and limitations

The strongest argument for the S 34 is separation. Two enclosed cabins and a heads compartment can support parents and children or two couples without making the saloon the only overnight solution. The open cockpit and bathing platform suit meals, swimming stops and marina living, while twin diesels provide some propulsion redundancy.

Packaging is also the central limitation. Two engines and drives, seawater circuits, forced induction, domestic electrical systems, gas appliances and weather enclosures place many ageing systems inside a 10.5 m hull. A low purchase price can be overwhelmed when drive servicing, heat exchangers, canopy, deck coverings and interior linings arrive in the same refit season.

No controlled performance evidence is available for the two dossier boats. It would be misleading to promise speed, consumption, range or seakeeping from rated power alone. Propeller choice, added weight, hull cleanliness, boost health, sea state and loading can change the outcome; a logged sea trial is the appropriate evidence.

Ideal use and buyer profile

The Sealine S 34 best suits a buyer who wants multi-day coastal cruising and private sleeping spaces, and who accepts the maintenance profile of twin legacy diesels on sterndrives. It can work as a family cruiser, a couple's boat with a guest cabin or a marina-and-anchorage platform. It is a weaker fit for someone seeking dayboat running costs, exceptionally open machinery access or single-engine simplicity.

The ownership plan matters more than the brochure silhouette. Confirm annual mileage, haul-out access, local knowledge of older Volvo Penta KAD systems, berth depth and the tariff effect of roughly 10.5 by 3.35 metres. Maximum persons, loading limits and definitive tank capacities are not established by the chosen sources and must come from the boat's plate and manuals.

Broker Pro denotes only an active Batoo subscription. It is not verified identity or KYB, and it guarantees neither editorial coverage, ranking, a favourable assessment nor inclusion in the stable article. Subscription activity, identity verification, offer freshness and editorial eligibility remain four separate signals in this dossier.

Used-boat checks and survey scope

Begin with identity and version control. Match HIN, build year, any model-year designation, engine plates and drive numbers to invoices and registration documents. An experienced Volvo Penta technician should assess cold starting, smoke, temperature, compressor engagement, turbo response, heat exchangers, exhaust elbows, bellows, universal joints, trim equipment and drive corrosion; oil analysis and a loaded run add evidence but cannot guarantee future reliability.

Commission an independent hull survey with suitable access. Moisture readings and percussion testing around hull, deck fittings and windows can locate areas requiring deeper investigation. Inspect seacocks, steering, bilge pumps, engine-room drainage and bonding where fitted. Teak or other bonded deck finishes deserve checks for remaining thickness, adhesion and hidden water paths, while sagging liners may indicate failed adhesive or leakage.

Operate every domestic and navigation circuit rather than accepting an inventory list. Test shore power, chargers, batteries, refrigeration, hot water, toilet and holding system, heating or air conditioning, windlass and instruments. Upgraded electronics belong to an individual boat, not automatically to the S 34 model. During the sea trial, log attainable rpm, synchronisation, temperature, vibration, trim response and water ingress at a stated load.

These are comparison prompts, not a universal ranking. Cockpit ergonomics, engine-room access, berth cost and a written maintenance estimate are more useful than mixing incompatible listing specifications. View competing boats with the same crew and measure the spaces that govern your use.

At 2 September 2026, the dossier records two active, editorially eligible Batoo asks in euros: €65,000 and €1. The literal observed interval is therefore €1–€65,000 from two records, but €1 is almost certainly a placeholder rather than an economically meaningful ask. Batoo analysis: only one interpretable price remains, which cannot establish a market range or valuation; no external prices are substituted and nothing is averaged.

The method observes asking prices, not completed sales, and groups them by currency. Tax status, commission, condition, refit scope, year, equipment, location and negotiation can materially alter the final cost. Images come from current Batoo listings and may depict different individual boats, years and configurations; brokers and sellers have not reviewed, validated or approved this dossier.
