Axopar 37 XC Cross Cabin: specs, used checks and prices
A grounded guide to the 2020 Axopar 37 XC Cross Cabin: official data, layouts, strengths, used-boat checks and Batoo asking-price observations.

In brief
The Axopar 37 XC Cross Cabin is an outboard walkaround with an enclosed wheelhouse, best suited to fast passages, extended-season use and couples wanting shelter with direct side decks. Its main caveat is configuration variability: the aft cabin, deck modules and equipment must be verified on the individual boat, together with the running costs of twin engines.

The 2020 Axopar 37 XC Cross Cabin is an outboard walkaround built around a fully enclosed wheelhouse rather than an open cockpit alone. It appeals to owners who expect wind, rain or cold to be part of the season, yet still want direct side-deck access to the bow and stern. Its main buying risk is not the basic platform but configuration: aft modules, accommodation and equipment can make two 37 XCs meaningfully different boats.
This guide keeps the 2020-generation documentation separate from specifications shown on Axopar’s present-day page. Images come from current listings and may depict different individual boats, years and configurations; the brokers and sellers have not reviewed, validated or approved this dossier.
Design, dimensions and 2020 specifications
Axopar’s 2020 product card gives an overall length of 11.50 m excluding engines, a 3.35 m beam and 0.85 m draft to the propellers. It identifies GRP construction and a weight of 3,770 kg without engines. Capacity is split by design category: ten people in Category B and twelve in Category C. These are builder figures, not the measured displacement of a fuelled, equipped cruising boat.
| Item | 2020 documentation | Used-boat interpretation |
|---|---|---|
| Length excluding engines | 11.50 m | Measure the complete berth length with outboards |
| Beam | 3.35 m | Relevant to berth and transport limits |
| Draft to propellers | 0.85 m | Loading and trim still matter |
| Weight excluding engines | 3,770 kg | Not a ready-to-cruise figure |
| Fuel capacity | 730 l | Confirm the tank and label on the actual hull |
| People / berths | B:10, C:12 / 2 or 2+2 | Four berths require the optional aft cabin |
The period card describes a twin-stepped, sharp-entry hull with a 20-degree V. Its stated outboard range was twin 225 to twin 350 hp. With two 300 hp Mercury V8 engines, Axopar published 2.3 l/nm at 28 knots, an approximate 250 nm maximum cruise range at 30 knots and a 38–48 knot maximum-speed band. Those are declared results, not a promise for a used boat: propellers, growth, load, options and conditions all affect the outcome.
Variants, layouts and documentation conflicts
The aft deck is the key configuration decision. Axopar lists an open deck, bench, wet bar, multi-storage module, U-sofa and aft cabin. The cabin changes the declared sleeping capacity from two to four, while the other modules favour carrying gear, cooking or social space. Package names and styling lines should never substitute for the original build sheet; a buyer needs an inventory of installed hardware.
Current official specifications should not be backdated to a 2020 hull. Axopar’s live page now states 722 l of fuel, a 22-degree V, twin 300–400 hp and 38–56 knots. The 2020 card states 730 l, 20 degrees, twin 225–350 hp and 38–48 knots. Length, beam and engine-excluded weight agree. Batoo treats the incompatible values as version differences or unresolved documentation conflicts and does not average them.
That distinction also matters when browsing later options. A current upholstery, electronics or deck-layout illustration may show what the model family became, not what a particular early boat left the factory with. The hull identification number, model-year manual, CE plate and invoice trail take priority over a general web page.
Reasoned strengths and limitations
The XC’s clearest strength is the combination of an enclosed social and helm area with usable exterior circulation. Sliding doors can close the wheelhouse in poor weather, while side decks preserve a straightforward route for lines, fenders and anchoring. For shoulder-season use, that functional protection may matter more than an extra open sunpad.
The concept also creates compromises. Twin outboards consume stern space and must remain accessible for service. The central cabin gives visibility and shelter but cannot create the lower-deck volume of a beamy conventional cruiser. Optional modules bring flexibility but also increase the number of drains, electrical loads, fittings and seals that need inspection.
Published consumption is best used as a comparison point. A planning figure derived from 2.3 l/nm can move substantially with speed or a dirty bottom, and range still requires a prudent reserve. A sea trial with readable engine data is a stronger budgeting tool than brochure arithmetic.
Ideal use and the owner it suits
The 37 XC suits fast coastal passages, long day trips, commuting and a season that extends beyond settled summer weather. It can be a protected day boat or a couple’s weekender; an aft cabin adds overnight flexibility. Four nominal berths, however, do not automatically provide four adults with the privacy or storage expected on a long cruise.
It is less suited to buyers prioritising several separate cabins, domestic-size galley facilities or displacement-speed economy. Berthing also requires care because the published 11.50 m excludes the engines. Design category is not an operating instruction: weather, crew skill, local rules and loading remain decisive.
The best match is an owner who values movement and weather separation, accepts outboard running costs and can specify exactly which aft module is useful. Buyers who cannot describe that use case may pay for flexibility they rarely exploit.
Used-boat checks before committing
Begin with the boat’s technical identity. Match the hull number, model year, CE plate, relevant manual and original delivery specification. Fuel capacity, installed power, stern module and listed weights should be reconciled against documents for that hull. A marketplace field is evidence to investigate, not proof that resolves a conflicting primary document.
An independent survey should concentrate on the hull bottom, chines, steps, transom and engine attachment zones, then look for moisture, repairs, gelcoat cracking and failed sealant. Test cockpit drainage, bilge pumps, hatches, sliding doors, roof mechanism, wipers and window seals. Each optional module should be operated under load, including water, refrigeration, heating and charging equipment where fitted.
The Batoo sample describes twin 300 hp Mercury V8 outboards and 345 hours, but that number remains a listing observation. Obtain an electronic diagnostic report showing hours by rpm band and stored faults, maintenance invoices, cold-start behaviour and corrosion condition. During the sea trial, check steering, trim, propellers, mounts, battery voltage and charging together; smooth acceleration and repeatable rpm are more informative than a brief top-speed run.
Accommodation deserves the same discipline. Verify whether “two cabins” describes genuinely separate sleeping spaces, the forward cabin plus optional aft cabin, or marketplace categorisation. Lie on every berth, operate the toilet and ventilation, and examine escape and access routes before deciding that the layout meets the crew’s needs.
Alternatives and comparison priorities
| Alternative | Why compare it | Main trade-off to test |
|---|---|---|
| Axopar 37 Sun Top | Same 37 family with a more open social area | Airiness versus full weather enclosure |
| Axopar 37 Spyder | The open, lower-profile interpretation | Deck freedom versus protected saloon space |
| A conventional enclosed cruiser | Relevant when cabins and services dominate | Interior volume versus walkaround access and weight |
Axopar introduced the Sun Top, Spyder and XC as three distinct members of the renewed 37 range in 2020. They are therefore useful concept comparisons even before price enters the discussion. A conventional pilothouse cruiser may provide more traditional accommodation; compare measured berth length, loaded displacement, maintenance access and actual cruising consumption rather than the nominal “37” label.
Observed asking price and Batoo methodology
On 2 October 2026, the dossier contained two eligible Batoo offer records, each describing a 2020 boat at an asking price of €205,000. The observed band is therefore €205,000–€205,000 with a two-record sample. Matching details, images and values require caution: the records do not necessarily demonstrate two independent hulls. This is an asking-price observation, not a valuation or achieved sale price.
The method uses eligible active Batoo offers in the dossier and groups them by currency. Tax status, location, options, condition, model year and negotiation may materially alter a transaction. Broker Pro indicates an active subscription only; it is not identity or KYB verification. Offer freshness, editorial eligibility, subscription and identity are separate signals, and none guarantees coverage, ranking or a positive assessment.
