In brief

The Jeanneau Merry Fisher 895 is an enclosed-wheelhouse outboard weekender with two cabins and adaptable living areas, well suited to couples and families extending their coastal season. Its main caveat is version identity: standard, Offshore and different documentation years carry materially different tankage, power limits and CE categories.

The first-generation Jeanneau Merry Fisher 895 combines a weather-protected wheelhouse with outdoor areas that can still serve swimming, casual fishing and open-air meals. This guide addresses the 895 documented in Jeanneau’s 2018 literature, not the later 895 Series 2 and not automatically the Offshore derivative. That boundary matters because dimensions, tankage, permitted power and CE category vary by version and documentation year.

Design, specifications and versions

Jeanneau’s 2018 catalogue gives an overall length of 8.90 m, a hull length of 7.98 m, a 2.99 m beam, a 0.63 m hull draft and an approximate engine-free weight of 3,060 kg. The two length figures are compatible because they use different reference points. The stated air draft ranges from 2.80 to 3.08 m according to equipment; bridge clearance and shed storage should still be based on a measurement of the actual boat.

The official catalogue credits Centkowski & Denert Design and Jeanneau Design. The arrangement centres on a glazed pilothouse, a recessed side deck, a helm-side door and a reconfigurable cockpit. Two cabins are stated below, while the catalogue describes a separate compartment with shower and marine toilet. Four or six berths are possible depending on saloon conversion, but berth count should not be confused with comfortable cruising capacity for adults and their gear.

Legende trim exists, and the Offshore version is the more consequential distinction. Buyers should not identify either from hull colour, twin engines or the wording of an advert. The builder’s plate, identification number, declaration of conformity, owner’s manual and tank documentation must agree. Jeanneau’s archived model page now mentions up to twin 200 hp and 100 L of water, whereas the 2018 catalogue lists 160 L and separates standard from Offshore. These are version or documentation differences, not numbers that can sensibly be averaged.

Reasoned strengths and limitations

The strongest argument is packaging. Two separate cabins, an enclosed helm and a galley make genuine weekends possible without moving into a much larger boat. A door beside the helm can shorten the route to lines or anchor work when operating with a small crew, while the recessed side deck and multiple boarding points support circulation. Those are design-based observations, not claims from a Batoo sea trial.

Flexibility creates maintenance points. Moving seats, folding backrests, tracks and cushions only deliver their intended benefit when hardware and drains work correctly. Equipment density is another trade-off: twin outboards, domestic systems and, on the Offshore, two larger fuel tanks fit into a compact platform, so clean technical access and a traceable service history matter.

Extensive glazing improves daylight and sightlines but can magnify summer heat and makes seals, wipers, ventilation and blinds important. Six berths require use of the convertible saloon; for adults, luggage and supplies, planning around four people is often the more conservative interpretation. That is Batoo analysis, not a builder-imposed limit.

Ideal use and best-suited owner

The Merry Fisher 895 suits a couple or family alternating day trips, coastal weekends and shoulder-season boating. Its enclosed helm earns its space where rain, wind or intense sun would reduce the usefulness of an open boat. Outboards give direct service access compared with inboard machinery, although they also occupy the transom and influence how the swim platforms are used.

It is less obviously suited to buyers prioritising broad sunpads, two equally generous cabins for two couples, or long unsupported passages. CE categories also require context: they describe design conditions and maximum persons for a defined version, not a weather guarantee or permission to ignore loading, forecasts and seamanship. Confirming standard versus Offshore therefore comes before judging whether the boat matches the intended programme.

Used-boat checks before commitment

Begin with the boat’s technical identity. Cross-check HIN/CIN, model year, builder’s plate, CE category, capacity, manuals and engine serial numbers. Establish both registered length and physical berth length from documents or measurement. The Batoo dossier carries 7.98 and 8.90 m, consistent with hull and overall length, but it also contains 2.93 and 2.99 m beams and a 0.67 m draft versus 0.63 m in the 2018 catalogue. Those incompatible values remain unresolved until checked on the specific craft.

For the outboards, obtain an electronic diagnostic report and service invoices, then have a technician assess compression or leak-down where appropriate, propellers, gear cases, trim systems, anodes and cooling circuits. One structured Batoo offer reports twin 150 hp Yamaha engines and 590 hours. That is an observation about one advertised boat, not a specification for every 895; hours should be reconciled with engine modules and invoices and interpreted in light of duty cycle.

A survey should investigate moisture and repairs around the hull, transom, deck and loaded fittings. In the wheelhouse, operate wipers, openings, locks and blinds and look for water tracks around glazing. In the cockpit, test seat travel, drains, rails and valve access. Below, inspect ventilation, bilges, toilet, shower, pumps, refrigeration, galley, batteries, charger and any equipment installed after initial delivery.

The water trial should use a representative load and include cold starting, low-speed control, engine synchronisation, acceleration, temperatures, vibration and astern manoeuvring. This dossier publishes no speed or fuel-burn claims because they depend on engines, propellers, load, sea state and hull cleanliness and were not established through an independent test.

Alternatives and comparison priorities

Beneteau Antares 9Another enclosed outboard weekender conceptexact-version layout, side-deck access and documentation
Quicksilver Activ 905 WeekendFamily cabin format with outboardsengineering access and the installed engine package

This is not a ranking. A useful comparison starts with normal crew size, berths actually used, local engine support and berth constraints. A well-documented 895 may be a sounder candidate than a feature-rich rival with unclear history. Conversely, the smaller option can remove cost and complexity if the second cabin would rarely be used.

Observed prices and methodology

On 28 September 2026, the dossier recorded two eligible active Batoo listings, both for 2018 boats, asking €109,000 and €115,000. The observed range is therefore €109,000–€115,000 from a sample of two. These are asking prices, not completed transactions, certified valuations or forecasts; tax position, commission, equipment, version, location, condition, maintenance and negotiation may change the final amount.

The €6,000 spread is too narrow a sample to define the wider market or appraise another boat. The disciplined method is to treat it as a snapshot of eligible Batoo supply and then normalise each candidate for verified version, engine package, documented hours, deferred work, electronics and transferable options. Recheck the figures when shopping because listings and asks can change.

Images come from current Batoo listings and may show different individual boats or configurations. Brokers and sellers have not reviewed, validated or approved this dossier. Official facts describe the cited model documentation; Batoo observations apply only to the stated sample; any mismatch remains an item for inspection and documentary verification.
